Diamon-Fusion International issued a license to Northbay Diamon-Fusion® in 1997 to perform its patented process in the field. This patented process vaporizes these chemicals that bonds them to the surface of the glass to make it stronger and hydro-phobic. This process can be easily installed on new and existing surfaces in homes, businesses, and in many environments. Diamon-Fusion® can be applied to most surfaces containing silica (Silicon Dioxide) such as glass, ceramic and porcelain tile, and granite. The chemical reaction bonds to form an ultra-thin protective layer of optically clear material which makes the surface significantly easier to clean and resistant to weathering. This method is done at Nano-scale levels, which is a length scale ranging from approximately 1 to 100 nanometers (1 nanometer is 1 billionth of a meter).

The bond created in the patented process is a covalent bond. A covalent bond means that the coating shares electrons with molecules in the glass itself, thus becoming part of the glass. This bond is approximately 10 times stronger that hydrogen-bridge bonds, which are commonly used in most other water repellent coating.

Diamon-Fusion International the maker of Diamon-Fusion® has the only treatment process that has been awarded a U.S. Patent 6,245,387. No other product that can be applied in the field can make that claim.
If it is not patented, it is likely based on outdated, obsolete technology, despite what they may claim.
